Black Sheep Ale Race Series 
 

BLACK SHEEP RACE SERIES  2010 Yet another successful race series for team YKH was recently celebrated at the annual award presentation and dinner held at Masham Town Hall and The Black Sheep Brewery. Offering a choice between 4 out of 6 varied 10k races and a choice between the arduous 10 mile Ripon road race and the notorious Burn Valley half marathon this series was completed by over 20 Harriers throughout the summer months. Great consistent running by both Sarah Nettleton who secured 2nd Lady overall and Phil Elliott – Dick who finished 4th man overall.   Our ladies team comprising of Sarah Nettleton, Angela Arnell and Emma Gradwell won the team prize. First in Age categories were won by Maureen Medlar, Angela Arnell and John Oliver. Martin Smith, Linda Smith, Gary and Linda Moss (with a broken toe!) won awards for completing the entire series. It was announced that this series will be run again next year on the same basis but that due to sponsorship issues this race series will in future be known as the Yorkshire Dales Race Series – however during the presentation The Black Sheep Brewery did mention that they might yet be providing some funding- those of us who have enjoyed the brewery produce will be watching this space with interest!!

To be eligible for a Race Series award runners must complete 4 of the 7 10k races plus either the 10 mile or 1/2 Marathon. Runners will be awarded points for their finishing position in each race, these points when added for completed races give your overall points total. There are lots of awards and prizes in all the different age groups which are handed out at a fairly informal dinner at the Black Sheep Brewery at the end of the series.
