Middleton wins Middleton Cup

August saw the inaugural hosting of the pretigious “Middleton Cup”, with its honorary namesake, club-legend-John-Middleton, claiming glorious victory.
As background, YKH Social Secretary, Richard Tarrega, bet YKH Members Secretary, Alistair McQueen (after a couple of cheeky cocktails – honestly) that Alistair could not beat club-legend-John-Middleton in any of the 2014 summer league races. The loser of the bet would host all there present to a night of ten pin bowling. Alistair confidently accepted the bet.
Seven summer league races later it became apparent that Alistair could not, in fact, beat club-legend-John-Middleton. And so the “Middleton Cup” was born.
On the night, the form of early favourite Richard Tarrega soon colapsed as his nerves got the better of him (it was rather embarrasing); Stewart Creasy surprised himself with his steady scoring; Nik Vogan, Stef Durkin and Kim Middleton formed a breakaway group demanding the introduction of bowling lane bumpers (designed for kids); and Alistair McQueen showed balletic poise that caused other lanes to stop and watch.
Meanwhile, club-legend-John-Middleton kept his focus and demonstrated his renowned ruthlessness to lift the trophy. Club-legend-John-Middleton was then carried shoulder high through the streets of Clifton Moor. The local residents fell to their knees in praise. (Richard Tarrega fell to his knees in tears).
Until next year ..Mid Cup
