Vet’s Grand Prix Series. Race 3

Lythe Sunday 7th June

This new venue proved as challenging as ever for the small YKH contingent who completed this tough 10k event.

On a lovely sunny Sunday morning the race began with a leisurely stroll to the start and being set in the picturesque grounds of Mulgrave Castle you could be forgiven for assuming that this was just a ‘run in the park’. However the true nature of this course was evident after the first kilometer. Running slightly downhill to start the heart, lungs and limbs were soon racing but in true vets style the race continued relentlessly with truly undulating woody and uneven tricky pathways eventually culminating in a 750 meter ‘Everest’ hill climb.

Well done to all our ‘boys’ Pete Downes (our first man home), Marc Thomas (our virgin vet), Roger Bilsby and Dave Hutchinson (our regulars) and of course Michael Collins (our almost barefoot runner) for making the long trip to this race. Paula Kelly ran as an under age guest. Hope you all enjoyed the race as much as we enjoyed watching and cheering you on!

The next race of the series is at Alwoodley on the 23rd June. Details will soon be found on the www.yvaa.org.
