Why run
with Knavesmire?
I suddenly found a group who enjoyed the things I did… the sort of people I
wanted to spend time with (Neil Holdsworth)
Whatever your standard you’re part of the friendliest team when you run with the

Veterans Races
If
you would like a change from road races and are aged 35 or above, why not have a
go at multi-terrain, scenic Vets Races? There is a regular contingent of York
Knavesmire Harriers attending Vets races who are happy to provide directions and
details of lift sharing for these friendly events that take place around
Yorkshire.
What are Vets Races?
Vets races are for men and women aged 35 and above. They are organised by the
Yorkshire Veterans Athletics Association and details of all fixtures can be
found on their website
www.yvaa.org or click
here
Vets races are divided into the Grand Prix race series and a number of
individual Championship races.
Grand Prix Series
A series of 10 races
hosted by different running clubs around Yorkshire. Race distance is usually
less than 6 miles and is often partly or mainly off road. A number of the
courses are hilly which makes for great cross training for those who usually run
flatter road races. Free food is available after each race and there are often
changing and shower facilities. No need to pre-book. Each race costs £2.00 which
is payable on the day. A number is provided to you at your first race which is
kept for the remainder of the series.
There are individual prizes within the various age groups at each race. In
addition each finisher of each race scores points for the club which go toward
team prizes. In 2007 York Knavesmire Harrier Ladies won the All Races to Count
team trophy.

Championship Races
A set of 10 individual races of different distances and terrains including road,
cross country and fell. The races must be pre-entered as per the entry form
(except fell race) available on
www.yvaa.org . There are individual and team prizes at each race.
