A classic Lake District fell race, starting at Rydal Hall near Grasmere , goes up one side of the valley to Fairfield and then zips back down the ridge on the other side of the valley.
After an initial steep climb the 10 mile race levels off and is largely runnable and the descent after the summit of Fairfield is not too technical with a long rolling grassy downslope that really lets you pick up some speed without too much fear . Great views of the surrounding mountains , Windermere and even as far as Morecombe Bay.
