Groups
Our social runs usually have three groups of different paces. The approximate pace of the groups and distance they run are as follows:
- Group 1: 10-12 km at 5 minutes per kilometre (8 min/mile) with only occasional stops to re-group
- Group 2: 10-12 km at 5½ minutes per kilometre (9 min/mile) with regular stops to re-group
- Group 3: 8-10 km at 6 minutes per kilometre (9½ min/mile) with run/walk sections as required
All of our runs are led by qualified Leaders in Running Fitness, an England Athletics qualification. We are extremely friendly and will be happy to advise which group would be most suitable. Whichever group you choose, we guarantee nobody will be put under pressure or left behind!
Please note not all groups will run every single week due to the availability of run leaders. Please check club communications or contact us if you need to find out whether a specific group will be running.
Kit
You don’t need anything specific to join our social runs – we just ask that you dress appropriately for the conditions! In the summer we like to do some off-road routes, but road shoes will always be suitable as we’ll only do these routes when the ground is sufficiently dry.
Between October and March inclusive, please wear bright (ideally reflective) clothing so you can be seen by drivers, cyclists, pedestrians and everyone else. Please bring a head or chest torch if you have one as not all of our routes are fully covered by street lighting.
Meeting Time
6:30pm
Meeting Location
We meet at York College, outside the main entrance. York College generously allow us to use their toilet facilities when they are open, but please note this is not guaranteed, especially outside of term time. Further toilets are available at the nearby Tesco supermarket.
There is ample free parking at the college for bikes and cars. The postcode is YO23 2BB and access to the car park is off Sim Balk Lane. Frequent buses from the city centre stop directly at the college or at the nearby park and ride site.
