Commondale Clart – approx 5 miles, 16 Feb.
Another good turnout for the North Yorkshire Moors Series from YKH.
Despite some waterlogged conditions underfoot, and some heather bashing later on we all had a great days racing, lovely weather (finally) and some fantastic results.
Congratulations to our Men’s Captain Chris Roberts who despite some navigational bewilderment managed to claim victory by some distance.
Chris had been in a leading group who ventured into the Moor’s equivalent of the Bermuda triangle, a very indirect route between checkpoints 4 and 5 , luckily they escaped the vortex to be met with the chasing group running towards them and in the opposite and wrong direction (we cant explain it and we were there!) , with the chasers now heading in the right direction but hot on the heels of the one time leaders Chris set off from the burgeoning group like a scolded cat, powering down the final descent ,across the stream, up the final hill and on to victory by some margin.
Our lads also took the Men’s Team Prize.
Chris Roberts 1st 41:52
Giles Hawking 10th 43:05
Barry Atkinson 13th / 1st M50 43:13
Neil Stabbs 15th 43:16
Anwen Darlington 25th / Third Lady 45:48
Tom Ratcliffe 29th 45:54
Andrew Johnson 44th / 2nd M55 48:40
Cassie Holmes 52nd 50:25
Sarah Nettleton 60th / 1st F50 51:33
Matthew Page 78th 54:30
Janet Cordingley 101st 60:52
Peter Schofield 104th 63:49
results – Commondale Clart 16-Feb-2014.
