—Northern 6 Stage Road Relays – Birkenhead.

A team day out in Birkenhead
This is what being in a running club is about.
The ladies represented the club at the northern road race relays at Birkenhead competing against the biggest and best clubs in the north to finish in 23rd position.
Other than Hazel (who has seen a great improvement in her running after coming back from injury) no one felt on their game but everyone pulled out astonishingly good times which would have earned us a place in the national championships.
A lot of time and energy goes into putting together a relay squad. This time most of that came from Neil, who sadly couldn’t be with us on the day. big thanks Neil.
Also rather sad to say that a men’s team and a ladies B team fell victim to people dropping out over the last week and a half. We will be back next year with a full contingent. Ready to take on the Goliaths of the North.
Thanks once again to everyone who ran. It’s been a great day out and once again the Lancashire sun shone on the righteous Yorkshire folk who visit.

The weather was summery too; almost too hot! We had blue skies, warmth, sunshine… The views across the lake and surrounding fells were marvellous with perfect reflections in the lake were. And to top it all there was a woodpecker to be heard at mile 10.
