— Scottish Winter Warmer Races.

Ewan Cochrane, Stuart Leslie and Ste Robson headed north to Scotland to take part in various events collectively known as “The Scottish Winter Warmer”.

Saturday in Edinburgh:
Ewan took on the half marathon which was a hilly four lap course around Arthur’s Seat. He managed a solid time of 1:40:53, which was tremendous given the conditions.
Stuart was entered into the 10k on the same course, but for some reason decided he wanted to do parkrun first, which started just 30 minutes before the race and was 5km away. What ensued was an epic long run including a parkrun just to get to the start of his race a few minutes late, and then smash out a very respectable 43:10 on the hilly 10km route. His total distance for the day was 32km 😲
Ste was content to just do the parkrun on Saturday, preferring to save his energy for Sunday’s exploits.
Sunday in Glasgow:
Sunday’s courses were again made up of 5km loops and were much flatter, but had several 180° turns on each loop, and the wind and rain were cruel.
Ewan did his second half marathon of the weekend but this time went faster in an excellent time of 97:44. He was very much in the hurt locker for the final two laps, but his experience and determination saw him through.
Ste fancied “giving it a go” at the half, and as usual set off a bit too fast. He was able to rein it in and stayed consistent throughout to finish in 88:40, a time he’s only ever bettered once and that was 10 years ago.
Stuart, having done 20 miles on the Saturday in total, did another 10km, because why not?! Undeterred by his tired legs he flew round his two laps in a tremendous time of 38:18, one of his fastest 10km races ever!
Huge thanks also go to York running legends Ed Roberts, Nick Griffin, Rob Ward, Alex Bedingham, Chris Poulton and Darren Baker for their amazing support both on and off the courses for the weekend.
