Racing Round Up – w.e 5th Feb – Dewsbury & Muddy Boots 10k’s

—Muddy Boots 10k – YKH Club Championship Race #1.

The 2023 Club Run Championship got off to a roaring start, with 32 Harriers taking on the Muddy Boots 10k in Ripon. It was a lovely sunny morning for the race, although the relatively dry winter meant that the course didn’t quite live up to its name for the most part!

Among many great performances, Laura Schofield was 2nd lady ( 1st FV35) with 44:52 and David Smithers was 3rd man ( 1st M50) with 38:01, while Richard Purser won his category with 39:51.

Well done also to Madeleine Foot 2nd FSEN, David I’Anson  2nd MV75 , Liz Piper 2nd FV70, Steve Hobson 3rd MV35 and Pete Downes 3rd MV60.

—Cod Beck Canter Fell Race.

A new 10 mile  race route ( amalgamation of two old routes)  for the North Yorkshire Moors Winter Series.

Knavesmire Ladies Becky Penty, Nik Tarrega and Susannah Reid won the Women’s Team prize.
Not to be outdone the YKH chaps were also team prize winners . The four counters being Peter Walker, Tom Ratcliffe, Michael Shaw and Barry Atkinson.

The next race in the series is Maybeck Three Crosses on 19th February, a 7 mile race that would not be too challenging for anyone wanting to try out this exciting form of running. If interested contact our off-road guru Tom Ratcliffe or any of the fell runners above.
