Weekend Round-up 10-11th October, Yorkshire Marathon and more…

The BIG races of the weekend were the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon and it’s new sibling the Yorkshire 10 miler.

Anyone who bought the York Press on Monday will be well aware that York Knavesmire Harriers were tremendously well represented, plenty of YKH vests could be seen in the local paper’s Marathon Special section.
There were at least 38 runners from YKH who finished the marathon .

Knavesmire’s David Smithers was the second runner from York to finish the race , with a chip time of  2:45:58 . Not far behind David was YKH runner Stephen Maddison with a chip time of 2:46:07. third male runner home for the club was Dan Chan (3:04:54).

Knavesmire’s ladies were lead home by Emma Yates who finished 8th Lady overall and first F45, with a chip time of 3:00;43.   Also finishing amongst the top 20 Ladies were Andrea Lancaster ( 3:11:07) and Robyn Hawxby  (3:13:20).

A special mention should be given to Caroline Warrington who ran the race dressed as Wonder Woman and still managed a great time of 3:43:17.

In the Plusnet Yorkshire 10 mile Race  we had 19 entrants according to the results .  First Knavesmire runner to cross the line was Lindsay Toulson ( 1:01:34) , and first YKH lady was Cassie Holmes (1:11:28) after working a night shift!

Knavesmire club member and Ladies Captain Nik Vogan represented great Britain at Cross Duathlon at the 2015 European Cross Duathlon Championships held in Spain at  Castro Urdiales, a town on the Bay of Biscay coastline and won a Bronze medal  in her age group.

A little closer to home in the Lake District Chris Roberts ran in the Langdale Horseshoe fell race .

Parkrun was off due to the york races.
