Three Knavesmire Harriers took part in the Fountains 10k in Ripon on Sunday:

—Blakey Blitz.
Stuart won the men’s race, Katie was third lady, Barry won his age category and the men’s team won.

—64th Yorkshire Three Peaks Race .

An absolute classic of a fell race , the iconic blue riband event of it’s type too be held in Yorkshire.

The Three Peaks Race traverses the famous Yorkshire Dales mountains of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside, is one of the oldest, most famous and best organised fell races in Britain.

First run in 1954, the Race covers 37.4 kilometres ( over 23 miles )  with 1608 metres of ascent and descent over the most rugged and spectacular countryside in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, taking competitors to a height of 723 metres above sea level.

This year we had a much reduced ‘Knavesmire’ contingent .

Simon Collins was the only YKH vest wearer to complete the race this year.
He finished in 245th ( of 701 finishers / 767 started ) .

Simon was running strongly and maintaining a position in the top 200 upto the summit of Ingleborough, at which point the long downhill sting in the tail of this challenging race hit Simon. In his own words ” the wheels came off ” and he struggled on the final 6 miles losing time and places.

Jayson Cavill pulled out of the race at Ribblehead , at which point he had been going well in the top 70,.

Also running the race were :
YKH second claim runner Scout Adkin (198 th )  who was second Lady under 25 , with a time of 4:02:43 .

Ex YKH member Harry Holmes was 8th in 03:03:32

Ex YKH member Anwen Darlington was 83rd overall in  03:41:53 ( 8th Lady )

—Highland Fling.

The Highland Fling is a 53 mile trail race which takes place every year in April.  The route follows the West Highland Way, Scotland’s oldest official long distance footpath, through the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.181st Sarah Attwood 10:53:37
