Country Trail Race Series – Report by Maureen Medlar.

Having tried tested and thoroughly enjoyed one of these events at Easter Liz and I just had to try running the Summer Series. Consisting of 4 self guided trail races through a real variety of countryside this series was a really fun summer training exercise. Starting and finishing at local country pubs the race fee of £5 included a £2 drink allowance – we waited until after race for ours but interestingly a few runners were in the bar before we set off!

Setting off with a list of directional instructions (ABSOLUTELY NO MAP OR COMPASS ALLOWED) we soon found ourselves in the middle of nowhere and not a clue as to where we were running. However with Liz’s expert navigational skills and with only a few blonde moments we negotiated three races without getting totally lost (just a bit confused here and there) and secured a 3rd place in the Ladies competition.

Can’t think of a better way to run – good company great countryside and no pressure!
