Having moved around the calendar for a few years, the YVAA Cross Country Championships now have a new home in early March. The 2017 edition will be at The Northern Racing College in Rossington (nr. Doncaster) on Saturday 4th March, so here’s your final chance to don your spikes and run a good, fast XC course before getting out the road/fell shoes for the summer! All age categories available from V35 upwards for men and women, plus a good number of titles for us to defend after a successful championships in 2016. - Race 1 – Women F35+, Men M70+ (approx. 5k)
- Race 2 – Men M50 – 69 (approx. 10k)
- Race 3 – Men M35 – 49 (approx. 10k)
We’ve had plenty of entries so far, but still need a few more to beat our 2016 entry. The men’s V50/55 entry is looking very strong, but we could do with a few more in the younger male categories (M35-M45) and more women across all categories to give us a chance to win some medals in the team competitions.

If anyone is interested, please provide your name and date of birth to Neil. Entries must be received by Neil by Wednesday 15th February to meet the entry deadline, so don’t miss out and get your entries in now.
YVAA Grand Prix Series 2017 :-
The timetable of races for the 2017 Grand Prix has now been announced with 9 races, including some old favourites, some new races and a couple of venues returning after a break. Having not hosted a race in 2016, the YVAA Knavesmire race will be returning in 2017 with a new course. It looks like we have a few more weekend races this year – that means less summer league clashes, so I hope to see more Harriers taking part in 2017. The current races are :-
- Race 1 – Honley – Sunday 23rd April
- Race 2 – Kirkstall – Tuesday 30th May
- Race 3 – Whitby – Sunday 4th June
- Race 4 – Halifax – Wednesday 9th August
- Race 5 – Valley Striders – Date TBC
- Race 6 – Knavesmire – Date TBC
- Race 7 – Stainland – Date TBC
- Race 8 – Horsforth – Sunday 17th September
- Race 9 – Spenborough – Sunday 12th November
We’ll normally meet up before the races to share lifts.
