—Evensplits York 5k Series.

Thirteen hardy (mad?) souls from the seventeen YKH members who had entered took part in this event which was the third club run of the 2023 Club Champs series. As ever the 5 laps seemed to rush by and it was all over by 8pm. Hannah got a great personal best whilst Hazel and Dave once again produced excellent times with each coming first in their age category.

I think we all enjoyed it! Thanks to Ellie for the photos plus cheers and support along the way.

—ERRA National Road Relay Championships.

A good day out for the squad at Sutton Park, Birmingham for this event which we qualified for at the Northern Relays held in Redcar a fortnight ago.

Great work by Rob Ward and the Captains in rounding up the teams and great thanks to Emily Baines and David Smithers who were last minute recruits, and without them we would not have had the complete teams on the day.
A fantastic opportunity to race with some of the nation’s finest athletes and to get the name of the club listed amongst some stalwart and historic athletic clubs.
(Athletics Weekly Event Report)

Maybe the highest quality men’s 12 stage ever with 3 teams breaking the course record and internationals taking part like Alex Yee, Andy Butchart, Marc Scott and Sophie Coldwell.
23rd for the YKH women and 51st for the men. 5 seconds quicker for the men than the last time we took part in 2019. We’re nothing if not consistent!

—Heartbeat Hobble Fell Race.

We put the word out that this would be a good race for anyone wishing to dip their toes into the Fell Running waters, and had a fabulous response. The greatest numbers of YKH runners at a race on the Moors in years.

The Heartbeat Hobble is an almost 7 mile route across the moor South of Goathland village, with 220m’s of climbing. There were no steep climbs, but plenty of standing water, rough terrain, some upward drags and a belting downhill dash to the finish.
There is one more race in the Winter Series, the challenging  14 mile Gisbororough Moors then we are onto the Summer Series starting with the Fox & Hounds (15km/580m) on 14th May @Yorkshire Cycle Hub Fryup, then Glaisdale Rigg (13.7km/562m).

Becky Penty was first female and Knavesmire ( Becky, Victoria Sewell & Natalie Greaves ) won the Ladies team prize.
Becky also took the Female course record away from her team-mate Vicoria Sewell.
