—Heartbeat Hobble Fell Race – YKH Club Run.

A soggy and boggy 7 mile jaunt across the Moors of Heartbeat country at Goathland.
A good turnout with some new faces to the fell running scene from the club, hopefully not too put off by the copious amounts of liquid sunshine.

Knavesmire were winners in the Female and Male team competitions and we had a number of other prizes also.

Hannah Johnson reports:

“Under the relentless Yorkshire rain, I tackled the Vale of York 10-mile race on Sunday 17th March. Having only decided to take part in the race the Monday previous I decided to also run and go for a PB (something I’ve never done before!) and luckily my good friend Alan Wilkinson said that he would be my pacer!! Despite the rain, Alan’s strategic pacing led me to clinch a personal best time of 1:28 which is a 8 minute PB from my Yorkshire marathon 10 mile race and a 3 minute PB from snake lane! Amidst the downpour, the spirited cheers from the spectators provided a boost of morale, fueling my determination to push through.
Aside from the PB achievement (something that running has never really been about for me) what I love in these events is the supportive camaraderie among fellow runners and the encouragement from the sidelines – eye of the tiger being blasted from one of the farm houses was a real win. All in all a fantastic day!”
