SAD NEWS FROM KEN TINKER, CLUB PRESIDENT

It is with great sadness that I report that our long-standing and valued club member Dorothy Holden, the wife of our vice-president Frank, passed away peacefully on Monday 27th May after a long illness.

Dorothy was a great friend to many Harriers and the organiser and heart of many club events from the late 80’s. She was instrumental in training and encouraging many people to become members of the Harriers after running the Great North Run to raise huge sums of money for Action Medical Research.

Dorothy’s selfless attitude and outstanding organisational skills shone through time after time for the benefit of the club. If you needed someone to help organise the Brass Monkey, to time keep at the Summer League, to organise predictor runs, to make bacon butties for the run on Good Friday, or to complete any other of the many jobs associated with the club, Dorothy was your Girl Friday.

She ran for many years for the club at all distances including the London Marathon.

Our thoughts are with Frank and family at this sad time. Dorothy will be missed by all that knew her, and many that did not.

Funeral arrangements: St Paul’s Church, Heslington. Friday 14th June at 1.00pm. Further details will follow.
