Team Managers End of Year Report

Summary
It has been a good year for YKH; we have managed to recruit a good number of new members who are keen to participate in team events for the club and also members who have been in the club for a few years have become more active in competitive team events. We have had good results in the Cross Country and Fell running this year with greater strength in depths to the squads. The Summer League again was a big plus point for us with the usual high turnout and winning 3 of the 4 main categories. Finally, well done to everyone who represented YKH this year and hopefully next year can be even better.

Cross Country
There were good performances in the Men’s team competitions at the Championship events this year with our club regularly being one of the highest placed from Yorkshire. The West Yorkshire league was down on last year with clashes with other big races such as the Yorkshire Marathon affecting our numbers which meant we failed to complete the team event. The ladies team of Nik Vogan, Cassie Holmes, Caroline Warrington and Bryony Parkinson did exceptionally well at the Nationals with the Ladies team an impressive 36th.

Fell Racing
There has been a resurgence of fell running in the club over the last year or so. Participation in the Esk Valley Fell series has increased from a couple of runners a race to us now being able to field 2 teams of 4 at some events. We have male runners well placed in many categories as the winter series reaches it climax with 2 of 15 races left to be run. We now have a number of ladies taking part as well, however they were a little late to the party this winter and as such many have not completed enough races to be high up in the standings, hopefully they will be raring to go when the summer series starts in May.
