YKH New Year & Christmas Round Up.

HardMoors 30   –   New Years Day.

David Smithers was 11th with a time of 4:24:37 at this Ultra Marathon distance trail race along a disused railway line and the beautiful  coastal sections of the Cleveland Way between Robin Hoods Bays and Whitby , with a detour out to Ravenscar and Hayburn Wyke to add some extra mileage.

HardMoors 15   –   New Years Day.
Sarah Atwood was first lady at this  trail race also along the  disused railway line and beautiful  coastal sections of the Cleveland Way between Robin Hoods Bays and Whitby
Stef Durkin also took part in this 15 mile trail race, as did Madeleine Foot.


Captain Cook’s Fell Race  –  New Years Day.

This fast’n’furious fell race starts in Great Ayton , the 4.8 mile route ascends to the Captain Cook monument atop the Moor before blasting back down again .

Knavesmire’s Nik Tarrega got the year off to a winning  start, taking the prize for 1st Lady, and was 57 th overall.

Usual race favorite Harry Holmes was out sprinted at the finish  and had to settle for 2nd on this occasion.

560 runners took to the Knavesmire on New Years Eve, 48 of whom were from YKH.

Jolly Holly Jog – 27th December .

With Christmas Day and Boxing Day behind us,  it was time to run off the party food and drink.

34 Harriers converged on Ripon to take part in the Jolly Holly Jog.(10k multi-terrain). It was the final race in our 2016 club championship.

There was some great results for YKH our ladies won 1st team prize (Emma Yates, Sarah Attwood, Louise Venables) there was also individual placings for Emma Yates 2nd (F40) Sarah Attwood 2nd (F30) and Jane Nodder 3rd (F50)

Guisborough Woods   –  27th December.

A three lap race in the foresty above Guisborough , the 5.5 mile race is a great way to burn off the xmas excess.

The race was won by YKH runner Harry Holmes in a time of 39:13, this victory came despite going the wrong way and having to make his way back up the field.

Simon Collins was 6th 42:49, Neil Stabbs 11th 43;28, Aislinn Kendal 100th 54:48, Phillip Chapman 101st 55:18,Andy Chapman Gibbs 113th 57:11,  Janet Cordingley 142nd 61:06.  and Petra Chapman Gibbs 163rd 65:24.


York Parkrun –  Christmas Day.

28 members of YKH amongst the 325 parkrunners who worked up a good appetite on Christmas Day .
