YKH races the Grrrrrrrrreat Manchester Run

On Sunday 18 May Alistair McQueen, Membership Secretary, braved the streets of sunny Manchester (in his tiger onesie) to complete the Great Manchester 10k. Over 30,000 people ran the race. It was eventually won by Ethiopia’s world record holder Kenenisa Bekele – in a time of 28 minutes 23 seconds.
“I knew the BBC were covering the race, so I wanted to stand out from the crowd”, said Alistair. “Obviously winning the race was one option, but I’ve been a bit off form this season. I therefore decided to go for the tiger look.”

“It was a grrrrrrreat race, and I’m glad I was able to do my bit to promote our grrrrrrreat club. I feel I was able to capture the focus, discipline and professionalism for which YKH is renowned.” Pete, the club coach, refused to comment.
During the race the temperature hit a toasty 25 degrees. Alistair described life inside the onesie as “clammy”.
