YDRRL  The ‘Summer’ League , Knavesmire 10k.

Excellent turn out and results from last Tuesday’s Summer League.

Chris Roberts led the pack home, with David Smithers, Scout Adkin, Emma Yates and John Oliver all claiming 1st places in their age categories.

A great effort all round – it’s too early to become complacent but I’ve got a feeling we’ll have something for our new clubhouse trophy cabinet at the end of the year!!

Sledmere Sunset Trail.IMG_1468

A trail race along the beautiful trails and Wolds valleys around Sledmere House, on a balmy summers evening, with the late sun creating dappled shadows through the trees. What could be better? Well, it wasn’t quite as I had imagined! The day’s heavy rain had eased off to a steady drizzle as eight Harriers braved various degrees of mud and puddles, with mist descending to hide the lovely views.

Laura Schofield

Darren Hendley headed the team home, followed by Laura Schofield, who was third lady. Alistair McAndrew wasn’t far behind, then Liz Matthews, Maureen and Martin Medlar, Kim and John Middleton.
The flapjack at the finish was very welcome, as was the cafe which stayed open until after the last runner had finished. A great race, in beautiful surroundings, definitely one to repeat.

Goole Riverside Challenge.

Stephen Maddison and Maureen Medlar ran the Goole Riverside challenge on Sunday and  both won their vets category M40-44 and F 60-64 respectively. Stephen was also 4th man home in a time of 55.09 very impressive by him as not the easiest of surfaces and it was very humid.

Fox and Hounds Chase.

Harry Holmes

Harry Holmes

Knavesmire’s Harry Holmes was  victorious at this deceptively tough 9 mile fell race held near Castleton on the North Yorkshire Moors.
The race route took in one of the less well traversed parts of the Moors, and therefore the paths were little more than overgrown sheep trods, The heather and bracken obscured the route, the perils for runners ankles  beneath   them and sapped energy as legs had to be dragged through the overgrowth.

Also running were Giles Hawking 8th , Andy Chapman Gibbs 43rd and Petra Chapman Gibbs 47th.

=======================

Isle of Skye Half Marathon.

Sarah Attwood took part in the race that bills itself as one of the most scenic in the world.

Sarah was 48 th in   1:32:25 and was 5th Lady to the finish.

========================

Knaresborough Bed Race.

Not strictly YKH business but a couple of club members were part of a team which took part in this crazy race. No doubt aided by their two ‘ringers’  Chris Roberts and Tom Ratcliffe they managed to be the second fastest newcomers to the race.
