—Ring of Steall and Malmores VK.

Top of the VK

Ewan Kirk had a busy weekend Skyrunning  Scotland  . On Saturday  he took part in the Malmores  VK, which is a timed race over an elevation gain of 1000 m’s.

Sunday saw Ewan running in the tough Ring of Steall Skyrace  .
A variation of the classic ‘Ring of Steall’ ridge-walking route this 29km / 2,500m mountain race has spectacular views of Ben Nevis from the Mamores and includes short sections of easy scrambling. race route is set within the Mamores, which are an east – west series of majestic Munros (Scottish Mountains over 3,000ft / 914m) and in this route there are four that will be summited.

Ewan completed the VK in 1:07:50 and the skyrace in 5:52:23.


—Three Shires Fell Race.

Tim Harvey was 38th out of 170 runners in this brutal Lake district  fell race. He completed the  Three Shires Fell Race in 02:30:13 .

Starting and finishing at the Three Shires Inn in Little Langdale. After an initial run along the valley, the route climbs steeply to Wetherlam, then down to Prison Band and up to the summit of Swirl How. The course then drops to the Three Shire Stone at the top of the Wrynose Pass, the meeting point of the historic counties of Cumberland, Lancashire and Westmorland. An ascent of Pike of Blisco follows, then the route drops to Blea Tarn before the final climb to Lingmoor Fell and descent to the finish.

The route is approximately 18 kilometres (11 mi) in length with 1,360 metres (4,460 ft) of ascent.
