YKH Weekly Round Up Week Ending 11th December.

Hard Moors 26.2 Roseberry Topping Trail Marathon and Half Marathon.

Sarah Attwood , David Smithers and new club member  but experienced Ultra runner John Freel ran this trail marathon ( more like 30 miles ) . The circular race route  started at Guisborough and took in the local high spots such as High Cliff Nab , Roseberry Topping , Captain Cooks Monument , and travelled across some bleak soggy Moors as far as Commondale and Castleton.

Dave Smithers was second in the ‘Marathon’.

Sarah Attwood finished the  ‘marathon’ in 5:54:51 (30.2 miles) , John Freel did 6 hrs 11 according to strava for the marathon.

The Half Marathon also took in the scenic high spots but without the big slog over to Castleton , Knavesmire’s Caroline Warrington was second Lady despite adding an extra mile following other runners in the wrong direction and Orna O’tool’s strava said she got 2:51 for the half (14.8 miles).

Petzl Grizedale Night Runner.

Mandy Clarke & Mark Dye  took part in this night time 10 km  race around the pitch black trails of Grizedale Forest in the Lake District close to Hawkshead.

Bovington Tank Museum  Marathon.

Stef Durkin took part in this great trail race on the South coast, plenty of mud and some great tanks to admire on route and at the finish  ,  he finished the hilly course in 5:24:58 and his reward was a giant medal and a can of his favourite tropical soft drink.
