YKH runners at Eccup 10

A good number of YKH runners  at this 10 mile road Race which counts towards the club’s “club run ” championship competition.

At the race we  picked up a few prizes .. Jane Nodder and Gareth Green – age group prizes . YKH won the men’s team prize. There were also prizes in the YVAA 10 mile champs for Gareth, Jane and Dick Hunter.

—Osmotherly Trail Races.

Neil Strange finished 2nd over all in the 12K in a time of 54 minutes and 7 seconds. Natalie Greaves was second lady in 57:07 and Darren Hendley was 5th in the 20K race in 1:42:04.


—Skiddaw Fell Race.

A 9.5 mile blast from Fitz Park in Keswick to the summit of Skiddaw, at 931 m’s England’s 6th highest mountain and straight back down again.
Just under an hour to the top and then the pain really begins as the quads and heels are relentlessly pummelled on the stony 1/2 hour descent  back to the finish.


—Harrogate Town Centre 10k.

Andy Smith ran this 10 miler near Hull.


—Southport Half Marathon

Maddie Foot ran this one in 01:45:16


—Endure 24 Leeds.

Basically run as many laps as you are able of  a 5 mile (8 Kilometre) woodland trail loop in Bramham Park , you can take breaks in the camping area to recuperate and then continue . also run in teams.

Sarah Attwood managed 65 miles and Dmitri Shostakovitch completed 8 laps for 40 miles.


—Oxenhope Straw Race.

Continuing on from last weeks booze related races Tom Ratcliffe was part of a team that undertook the Oxenhope Straw Race.

The race involves carrying 5 pints of beer and carrying a bale of hay.
Teams of two (male, female or mixed) from the start, walk or run  to the Bay Horse Inn where a bale of straw is picked up (female teams may carry 1/2 bales if wished), and head up to the finish at the Dog & Gun, some 1 1/2 miles up a gentle hill, via the Social Club, the Lamb Inn and the former Shoulder of Mutton. A pint of beer (or half-pint for female teams) is drunk by teams at each stop.

Tom’s team the Strawberry Blondes were 6th of almost 200 taking part.
