York Knavesmire Harriers Christmas parkrun

York Knavesmire Harriers Christmas parkrun

Saturday 20th December saw the Knavesmire Harriers turn out in force for another age graded parkrun competition. It was good to see so many Knavesmire vests around the racecourse and even more Santa hats.

44 harriers braved the wind to run and there were 4 first timers at parkrun – Maureen Medler, Robert Judson, Mark Anness and Pam Anderson, I hope you enjoyed your first experience of parkrun and will go back for some more.

However, PBs were very few and far between – whether this was due to it being the Saturday after ‘Mad Friday’ or the crazy wind I’m not sure but congratulations go to Caroline Warrington who was the only harrier to record a new pb, running the 5k in 20:27.

The aim of doing the parkrun was to level the playing field by doing the results on an age graded basis for a bit of fun. The winner was Barry Atkinson, who ran in 18:49 which gave him an age graded percentage of 81.67%. In second place was Michael McGrath (80.02%) and third was Kim Critchley (78.8%).

Well done to everyone and hopefully we’ll see you in the new year for another parkrun competition.
