‘Mixed’ Success at Danefield Relays

Report by Neil Stabbs The evening of Tuesday 1st July saw the annual running of the Danefield Relay, taking on 3 x 3 mile laps of the Chevin Country Park, north of Leeds. Knavesmire hadn’t fielded a team for a few years, so 3 of us decided to head over to see how we fared on what turned out to be a tough course with a killer climb at the end. Another great showing from the Knavesmire Harriers at Bishop Wilton. Being responsible for the organisation of this race dented the numbers we had running a bit , but we still fielded 48 runners. So firstly massive thanks to our race organisers, marshalls and supporters. The youth of York University took the races first three places in the race , just behind them we had Lindsay Toulson in 4th ( 37:00, 1st M40) and in a return to form Chris Roberts in 5th ( 37:06). Hadrians Wall Half race report by Andy Bell On the evening of the 28th of June I marched north from York towards Hadrians Wall in the footsteps of the Roman IX legion. A 2 hour drive saw me to my overnight stay in the small village of Acomb (no relation to our local version !) near Hexham.
