Weekend Round Up 19-20 March – Thirsk 10/Blakey Blitz/Ashby/Lakeland Trails…….

Thirsk 10 mile road race.

A lovely spring morning greeted the 870+ runners for the Thirsk 10 mile road race  , this race is always well organised and marshalled and yet again they did a great job.

14 Knavesmire Harriers turned out for this event and they did the club proud.
Stephen Maddison 58.42,  Alex Bedingham 60.33,  Pete Downes 66.22,
John Oliver 68.45 –   great running by John 2nd place in age category.
Stef Durkin 73.00, Steve Green 73.12,  Alex Wheeler 73.40, Qin Zhou 79.37, Viv Fraser 82.45, Simon Dixon 83.24, Ian Bithell 86.15, Janet Hales 92.18,  Duncan Chambers 94.27, Martin Smith 97.27.

Blakey Blitz Fell Race.

Knavesmire were victorious in both the Men’s  and Ladies Team Competitions, Scout Adkin was first Lady, Nik Vogan third Lady, Harry Holmes was second overall and Chris Roberts third.

Also taking part in this challenging 10.5 mile race out on the North Yorkshire Moors were: 6th Samuel Allin, 11th Barry Atkinson ( 1st M55), 17th Giles Hawking, 40th Richard Tarrega, 54th
Andrew Johnson, 55th Andy smith, 60th Cassie Holmes, 71st Andrew Chapman Gibbs and 84th Petra Chapman Gibbs.

Sarah Attwood ran this 20 mile road race nr Ashby-da-la-Zouch.

Lakeland Trails – Cartmel.

In the 18 km race Gail Stride was 18th overall ( second Lady), Darren Hendley was 31st, Sandra Harman ran in the 18km Challenge event.

York Parkrun. 

27 members of YKH took part with PB’s for Alistair McAndrew, Anna Marshall, and one first timer Jonathon Champion.

Perth (Australia) Summer Trail Series.

Liz Matthews report s she is “Chuffed to bits to have completed all five races of the Perth Trail Summer Series. All the races were held in the beautiful national parks, were hard and tough, but thoroughly enjoyable.”
