Jolly Holly 2013

After the excesses of the Christmas period, it was time for the 10th and final club run of 2013, the Jolly Holly Jog in Ripon. 27 Harriers arrived to tackle a multi-terrain course taking in parts of the Studley Royal deer park and the surrounding area. 2013 Vets Year End Report

With several of our stalwart vets sustaining injuries and the inevitable race clashes it has been a somewhat depleted team effort this year. However in true YKH style we competed in all the Grand Prix events of the year as well as in a few of the Championship races. Guisborough Woods

Two days after the Festive Feeding Frenzy we burned most of the calories off at the Guisborough Woods race. Being a two lap race we had the pleasure of repeating the same gruelling climb twice, on the second bigger lap the race went beyond the shelter of the forest onto the open Moor, where we were assaulted by a ferocious head wind which made forward progress quite difficult, once back into the woods the wind subsided and we could enjoy the long descent to the finish. West Yorkshire League – Nunroyd Park

Nunroyd Park was the scene for the final race of the West Yorkshire League Cross Country series. We arrived in good time and were ably supported by Team Manager Andy Neale, who was threatening to throw his pork pie at any York Acorn runners who got in our way. We headed out for a warm-up and to inspect the course, as has been the case for most of the series the conditions were dry and mild with only a hint of mud.
