Burnsall 10 Mile and Classic Fell
A group of Harriers headed to Burnsall to take part in the 10 mile road race and classic fell this past weekend. Clennell Trail Marathon and Ten Mile race
Two mountain goats and a whippet (Liz Matthews, Maureen Medlar and Darren Hendley) took on what had been described as a 10 mile trail race through the beautiful Cheviot hills. The morning started with that nasty wet rain and drizzle that soaks you to the skin, and it didn't bode well for a fell race in such an open and exposed place. Borrowdale Fell Race
Report by Giles Hawking The Borrowdale Race is one of the 'Classic' English Fell races, a 17 mile beast that climbs Englands highest mountain Scafell Pike 977m , followed by Great Gable 899m and Dalehead 753m. The ground under your feet varies from knee/waist deep bogs, hard to navigate barren fell tops, mountain tops covered in broken slabs of rock which you hopefully leap from one to another, and perilous descents of loose scree or tussocky grass and protuding rock.
